Tall Tale Radio Interview - John's busy Autumn

John's been running hither and yon this fall, making presentations, moderating panels, and also selling the new book. He and Tom Racine give you a rundown of what's been happening and what's still to come. Go check it out.

Tall Tale Radio Interview - Reubens aftermath

Tom Racine of Tall Tale Radio very nicely asked us to do another interview which is now up here.

I would ask that before you listen to this interview you would take into account that we were a tad sleep deprived and also recovering from the New Jersey Revelry - the older one gets the longer the recovery process takes :-)

I say this because, as I listened to it this morning I realized that, A) I seem to have felt the need to talk very loudly this time, B) I interrupted Tom at least 3 times - maybe more and C) I blathered.

Part of this I put down to Tom's ability to put you so at ease that you feel as if you are just shooting the breeze over drinks with a friend. Which is why I sound like I'm at a bar :-)

Regardless, thank you so much, Tom for all your support of Edison - we really appreciate it.

For more inside scoop on John's nomination - and much silly digression into movies - check out Tom Racine's excellent podcast here.

Unfortunately, all the bits about our daughter's fascination with Monty Python's Holy Grail since the age of five were after the mic was off :-)

Mother Goosed

John is part of an exciting book project titled "Mother Goosed - Twisted Rhymes For Modern Times. This is the first book to be published by the new non-profit Southport Publishing and launches this Saturday November 14th. You can find more details and all things "Mother Goosed" related at the official Mother Goosed Blog. Here also is a calendar of events for the launch of the book. And here is the interview John and his colleagues Chet Griffith and John Bloner did with the local NPR station this morning.

The above cover art is the work of Dianne Levesque.

Tall Tale Radio Interview

Recently John and I had the great privilege of being interviewed by Tom Racine of Tall Tale Radio. You can hear the interview here. If you have never listened to Tom's podcasts, you are really missing something special. Not only does he have a great set of pipes for radio, (i.e. one of the best voices out there) he is a truly talented interviewer. He obviously loves cartooning and knows the business well. He does his research and asks great questions as well as putting you at ease right away. If there is a down side to his approach it would be that you are so comfortable talking to him you might forget it's going to be public and make an idiot of yourself. (Which I sincerely hope I didn't do - I don't have the nerve to listen to it yet). In a recent interview with Stephan Pastis of  Pearls Before Swine, an interview that was planned to last 20 minutes ran for over 70. Stephan later blogged about this in his post "For Some Reason I Wouldn't Stop Talking". See, it's not really Stephan's fault, Tom just has that effect on you :-)

So thank you so much Tom for the great interview and for being a fan of Edison. While we loved the In-n-Out Burgers we had with you, we are looking forward to taking you to our local drive-in burger joint where the burgers are roughly the size of your head. (We're talking midwestern beef here.) So let us know when you'll be out this way. And for those of you discovering this blog for the first time via Tall Tale, welcome to Behind the Scenes. You'll want to check out the archives for pictures of our time at the Reubens and some other "inside comics" stuff.
